The show must go on — even when you accidentally step on a bee and have to pluck out the stinger in the middle of a performance.

That was the case for Cyndi Lauper, who was performing at the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday, and was in the midst of her 1983 hit “She Bop” when, after removing her shows, stepped on a bee while in the midst of playing the recorder.

While the pain was evident, Lauper, 66, continued the song until the end, and then addressed the audience.

“I’m tough, but really? That had to freaking happen?!” Lauper said, asking one of her crew to bring her a stool so she could treat the sting.

“The guy is dead over there,” Lauper said, pointing to the deceased bee on the stage. “But he died killing me… My God, it’s just one of those weeks, you know.”

As she continued to clean the wound and bandage her foot, she bantered with the audience.

“Oh s**it, it’s starting to swell. What happens now? If I’m allergic I die?” she joked before asking for some comfortable footwear for her injured foot.

“Now this is gonna ruin the whole outfit, but maybe flip-flops or something?” she asked.

“Is it supposed to hurt if you get stung by a bee?” she asked the audience, who affirmed that it is. “Well,” she quipped, “that sucks.”

Fans in attendance at the show took to social media to marvel at Lauper’s onstage gumption.
