There has been much speculation to who the next “James Bond” lead will be. Everyone’s name from Robert Pattinson, Idria Elba and Richard Madden have been thrown around.
Although multiple sources are reporting that “Captain Marvel” star Lashana Lynch is taking the helm as 007 when Craig’s Bond retires.
TMZ reports that in “Bond 25”, which is currently filming, Daniel Craig’s Bond comes out of retirement to find Lashana’s character has assumed the 007 moniker.
A source told the Daily Mail, “Bond, of course, is sexually attracted to the new female 007 and tries his usual seduction tricks, but is baffled when they don’t work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him and has no interest in jumping into his bed.”
The source added, “This is a Bond for the modern era who will appeal to a younger generation while sticking true to what we all expect in a Bond film. There are spectacular chase sequences and fights, and Bond is still Bond but he’s having to learn to deal with the world of #MeToo.”
Phoebe Waller-Bridge (behind “Killing Eve”) was brought on for “Bond 25” and likely had a play in this “popcorn dropping moment.”
Not much is known about Lynch’s character at this point other than her name is Nomi.
ET Canada has reached out Lynch’s rep but it would be a safe bet to assume they will be tight-lipped.
Christoph Waltz will return to his role as Blofeld, Léa Seydoux as Madeleine Swann and Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny. New additions to the cast include Rami Malek as the currently unnamed villain and Ana de Armas as Paloma.
