“The Farewell” has managed to knock “Avengers: Endgame” off the top spot to hold the best per-screen-average of 2019 after its opening weekend.
According to Variety, the drama, directed by Lulu Wang and starring Awkwafina, bagged a whopping $351,330 when it opened in four venues.
This means the flick managed to bring in an average of $87,833 per location, beating the “Avengers: Endgame” total per venue of $76,601.

The biggest difference, however, was that the much-loved Marvel film kicked off in an incredible 4,662 North American theatres.
“The Farewell”, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, was shown at AMC Lincoln Square and the Angelika in New York and ArcLight Cinemas and The Landmark in Los Angeles.
The movie was incredibly successful despite a power outage in New York Saturday night which meant AMC Lincoln Square had to temporarily close.
