The Black Keys are offering a “MasterCourse” that is definitely worth a few laughs, but not your hard-earned money.
The four-time Grammy-winning rock duo teamed up with Funny or Die for a parody of MasterClass. For the uninitiated, MasterClass is an online education platform that boasts celebrity seminars with the likes of Gordon Ramsay, Margaret Atwood, Aaron Sorkin, Penn & Teller and more.

“Every song on a record is trying to accomplish something,” Dan Auerbach said in the video above. “That song, in particular, was trying to get me a new pool.” Auerbach also urged students to take inspiration from their surroundings. “I wrote that song while eating caviar with Michael Jordan in Paris,” he revealed. “He cheats at Blackjack.”
“I come from a long line of drummers. And I’m not talking about the Nick Cannon ‘Drumline’, although I wish I came from that line too,” added drummer Patrick Carney. “It means a lot to be a drummer. One of the things it means is that you’re not a good guitar player –– or as good as someone else that you know who’s in your band.”

The Black Keys formed in 2001. The band skyrocketed following the commercial breakthrough success of their single “Tighten Up” from their album Brothers. The album earned The Black Keys three Grammy Awards.
The collaboration with Funny or Die promotes The Black Key’s recently issued ninth studio album Let’s Rock. The duo will promote the album on a North American tour with Canadian dates in Toronto on Oct. 9 and Vancouver on Nov. 24.
