“The Little Mermaid” live-action movie may have found itself its prince charming.
Harry Styles is said to be in early talks to star as Prince Eric in Disney’s underwater adventure, according to Collider. The former One Direction star received positive reviews for his acting debut in 2017’s “Dunkirk”. His vocal talents and good looks help build his case for “The Little Mermaid”.

The new film stars Halle Bailey of Chloe x Halle as the red-haired mermaid Ariel. Melissa McCarthy is rumoured to play the villainous Ursula. Canada’s own Jacob Tremblay is expected to play Flounder and “Crazy Rich Asians” star Awkwafina is in talks to play Scuttle.
The roles of Sebastian the crab and King Triton have yet to be cast, although “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Terry Crews is making his case for the latter.

“The Little Mermaid” live-action musical will be directed by Rob Marshall (“Mary Poppins Returns”). Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote songs for “Moana”, is teaming up with Alan Menken to write songs for the new project. Menken is the Oscar-winning composer behind the iconic music of the original animated “The Little Mermaid”.
Production on the film is expected to begin early next year.
