On Tuedsday, “America’s Got Talent” kicked off this season’s Judge Cuts Round, with country singer Brad Paisley on hand to serve as the evening’s guest judge — which comes with the honour of an additional Golden Buzzer that only Paisley can use.
One of the episode’s returning acts was Berywarm, the French beatboxing crew who promise to “bring everybody into the nightclub.”
With no instruments, the four-man a capella group created a techo-like beat, layering sounds and noises to result in an amazing facsimile of hip hop.
The energetic performance brought all the judges to their feet — except Simon Cowell.
First up was judge Howie Mandel, who reminded the audience that group was not using a track, and all the sounds they just heard were “coming out of their mouths.”
Paisley pointed out that what Berywarm does isn’t something a lot of people have seen before, but explained that “nobody had ever seen a guy play a guitar with his teeth before Hendrix, so it’s always hard when you’re the first one through the door.”
Simon Cowell, however, felt the act ended great, but lacked an “incredible beginning and an incredible middle,” noting that an act can go viral after appearing on “AGT”.
However, he added, “I’m not sure that audition is going to go viral that it could have done, in my opinion.”
Despite Cowell’s lukewarm reception, Berywarm is going through to the next round. Check out their earlier performance below:
