“Carpool Karaoke: The Series” will be back on the road, with Apple TV announcing on Wednesday that the show will be returning for a third season.
A spinoff of James Corden’s wildly popular “Late Late Show” segment, “Carpool Karaoke” marked Apple’s second foray into original programming, launching shortly after its ill-fated “Planet of the Apes” series.
Departing from the original format — which features Corden driving around with various celebrities while singing songs — the series version instead partners celebrities with each other, such as “Captain Marvel” stars Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson, while another episode featured Jason Sudeikis chauffeuring a car full of Muppets.
While Apple TV hasn’t yet announced all the stars who’ll be buckling up for the third season, it’s been confirmed that “Stranger Things” kids Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLoughlin, Noah Schapp and Sadie Sink will be appearing in one episode.
A return date hasn’t been set, nor has the third season’s episode order been revealed (the first and second seasons consisted of 21 and 20 episodes, respectively), but “Carpool Karaoke: The Series” is expected to debut later this year.
Meanwhile, Apple released a supercut of some of the numerous highlights from the first two seasons, above.
