It looks like Russian President Vladimir Putin may have just nabbed himself a new goddaughter.
Filmmaker Oliver Stone interviewed the politician last month, with the transcript now being released by the Kremlin.
The chat took place not long before his controversial documentary “Revealing Ukraine” premiered in Italy on July 4.
Putin said in the interview that Ukrainian politician and Putin associate Viktor Medvedchuk asked him to “take part in the christening of his daughter.”
He added, “According to Russian Orthodox tradition, you can’t refuse such a request.”
Stone then asked, “Oh, you cannot refuse it? Otherwise, I would ask you to be the godfather for my daughter.”
Putin replied: “Does she want to become an Orthodox Christian?”
“OK, we’ll make her that,” Stone quipped, confirming Tara was 23 years old.
The interview also saw Stone moan about young people in America.
He insisted, “So much of the argument, so much of the thinking, so much of the newspaper, television commentaries about gender, people identify themselves, and social media, this and that, I’m male, I’m female, I’m transgender, I’m cisgender. It goes on forever, and there is a big fight about who is who.”
Back in 2013, Russia brought a law into effect banning “homosexual propaganda” among minors.
ET Canada has contacted Stone’s rep for comment.
