Pop culture is getting weirder and weirder, if you ask Trevor Noah.
On Monday, the “Daily Show” host laid out the whole story of A$AP Rocky’s arrest in Sweden over a street fight, and Kanye West’s subsequent lobbying of Donald Trump to help his friend get released.
“This is one of those moments where I genuinely cannot believe that we’re living in real life,” Noah said. “Listen to the story: Donald Trump, who is the president of the United States, got a call from his friend Kanye West to save a rapper from a Swedish prison.”
He joked, “This sounds like a headline written by a newspaper on LSD.”
Noah then mocked Trump, who tweeted that he had spoken with the Swedish prime minister to discuss A$AP Rocky, and the prime minister’s public response that he will not get involved in the course of justice.
“So Sweden is saying that in their country, a president cannot interfere with an ongoing investigation,” Noah explained. “Imagine how hard it must have been to try and explain that to Donald Trump.”
