Cynthia Erivo takes on the role of abolitionist Harriet Tubman in the first trailer for an upcoming biopic.
The newly released “Harriet” teaser sees Tubman strive for freedom, saying, “God don’t mean people to own people.
“I will give every last drop of blood in my veins until this monster called slavery is dead.”
A synopsis for the film, which is already being tipped for awards season success, reads: “From her escape from slavery through the dangerous missions she led to liberate hundreds of slaves through the Underground Railroad, the story of heroic abolitionist Harriet Tubman is told.”
“Harriet” also stars Janelle Monáe, Joe Alwyn, Clarke Peters, and Tim Guinee.
The film hits theatres November 1.
