Following the news that “Designated Survivor” won’t be returning for a fourth season, star Kiefer Sutherland took to Twitter to share a special video message for fans of the political drama.

“I wanted to take a moment to thank everybody for their incredible support of ‘Designated Survivor’,” says Sutherland in the video recorded backstage before a musical performance in England.

“The third season is the final season and you guys have just been amazing,” the 52-year-old actor continues.

“It was an honour to play Tom Kirkman, and thanks so much for supporting us through the three seasons that we got to do,” he concludes. “All my love, thanks a lot.”

“Designated Survivor” received a new lease on life after ABC cancelled the drama in 2018 when Netflix swooped in to order a 10-episode third season, but ultimately decided not to order a fourth.

“We are proud to have offered fans a third season of ‘Designated Survivor’ and will continue to carry all three seasons for years to come,” Netflix said in a statement announcing the show’s cancellation.

“We’re especially thankful to star and executive producer Kiefer Sutherland, who brought passion, dedication and an unforgettable performance as President Kirkman,” the statement continued. “We’re also grateful to showrunner/executive producer Neal Bear for his guiding vision and steady hand, creator/executive producer David Guggenheim and EPs Mark Gordon, Suzan Bymel, Simon Kinberg, Aditya Sood and Peter Noah along with the cast and crew who crafted a compelling and satisfying final season.”
