Prince Is Back In ‘Holly Rock’ Animated Music Video

Prince may be gone but he is still rolling out new content.

The iconic singer’s estate has released a new animated music video for Prince’s song “Holly Rock”. The song serves as the second single for Originals, a posthumous demo album released by the estate last month.

The synth-heavy jam was recorded way back in April of 1985. It was originally written and recorded for Prince’s longtime love and collaborator Sheila E.

London’s Electric Light Studios is to thank for the comic-inspired “Holly Rock” music video. Prince’s estate and Warner Records served as co-producers on the video. The visuals boast a faithful animated recreation of Prince in a number of his trademark flamboyant outfits. Electric Light Studios used comic-strips to present the song’s lyrics.

“Holly Rock” was originally intended as part of the soundtrack for 1985’s “Krush Groove”, but it never saw the light of day until earlier this year.
