As A$AP Rocky continues to be detained in Sweden, President Trump is doing what he can to get the rapper set free.
Turning to Twitter on Thursday, Trump tweeted out, “Give A$AP Rocky his FREEDOM. We do so much for Sweden but it doesn’t seem to work the other way around. Sweden should focus on its real crime problem.”
Trump then added that he is “very disappointed” in the Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven: “Sweden has let our African American Community down in the United States. I watched the tapes of A$AP Rocky, and he was being followed and harassed by troublemakers. Treat Americans fairly.”
The tweets come after the Grammy-nominated artist was charged with assault over a fight in Stockholm on June 30. The rapper has been in custody since July 3 and will stay in custody until trial.
Prosecutor Daniel Suneson said that he charged A$AP and two other people based off evidence that is not “available on the Internet.”
Justin Bieber, Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have all shown support for A$AP. Trump called the Swedish PM on the weekend where he “offered to personally vouch for his bail,” which is not even an option under Swedish law.
After Trump’s most recent tweets, many people pointed out that the United States hasn’t done all that much for Sweden. As well as the fact that Trump still has children locked in border detention camps.
