Canadian-born YouTuber Grant Thompson, better known as “The King of Random”, reportedly passed away in a tragic paragliding accident.
The Internet personality amassed over 11 million YouTube subscribers thanks to his life hacks and DIY projects. Thompson’s family informed the public of his death via an In Memoriam video posted to this channel.
“It is with great sadness to inform everyone that Grant Thompson passed away last night. Grant had great love and appreciation for his fans,” the video’s description reads. “We invite you to share your thoughts for Grant and the channel in the comments.”
“Please do a random act of love or kindness today in honour of ‘The King of Random’,” the statement continued. “Grant’s legacy will live on in the channel and the global community he created.”
Grant, who was only 38-years-old at the time of his death, had reportedly gone paragliding on Monday night and never returned home. His brother reportedly told TMZ police officers found Thompson’s body on Tuesday.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said a helicopter located his body after authorities received word of an overdue paraglider. Paragliding equipment was reportedly found at the crash site as well as a video recording device.
Thompson is survived by his wife and their four children.
