Chris Hemsworth reveals exactly what it took to put on all that weight for “Avengers: Endgame”.
The upcoming “Thor: Love and Thunder” star took fans behind the scenes of his transformation from handsome muscle-bound Thor to out-of-shape, lethargic and smelly Thor. The character has been lovingly dubbed as, “Bro Thor” and “Fat Thor”.
“We had a sort of fat suit that I think was 60 or 70 pounds,” Hemsworth said in a video posted to YouTube by IGN. “It was the hottest I’ve ever been.” Hemsworth, 35, was thrilled to play the “new version of Thor” and described it as “hugely liberating and fun.”
“We had the beard, the hair, these things that go in the mouth that sort of plump my cheeks a bit, which sort of had a little effect on the voice as well but in a good way,” he continued. “It was a different Thor.”
His “Thor” co-star Tessa Thompson also touched on the updated God of Thunder. “He’d been playing the character for a while and wanted to find something new,” she said of Hemsworth. “He has such dexterity as a talent. He’s incredibly funny. He has a really lovely energy.”
Hemsworth will follow-up his record-breaking role in “Avengers: Endgame” with “Thor: Love and Thunder” on Nov. 5, 2021.
