Ruby Rose’s ‘Batwoman’ Will Have Full Romantic Life As First Lesbian Superhero

The”Batwoman” TV series is breaking ground as the first show with a lesbian superhero lead.

Ruby Rose will play Kate Kane of the Arrowverse. And while Kane has a complicated relationship with the closeted Sophie (Meagan Tandy), “Batwoman” executive producer Caroline Dries told Entertainment Weekly during TCA that the superhero will go on dates and have a full romantic life.

“Yes, that is to me what’s important about this character is that she’s like Oliver Queen,” Dries said. “[He] dates left and right at the beginning of that show before he and Felicity [Emily Bett Rickards] settled down. We didn’t want to neuter Kate. She’s in this complicated relationship with Sophie because it’s an intellectual past relationship but to me what makes part of her character is that she has girlfriends. She goes on dates.”

As for who those romantic interests might be, Dries wouldn’t give anything away.
