The Governor of Minnesota has declared June 7 as Prince Day, in celebration of the late singer’s legendary career (Prince was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on June 7, 1958).

Governor Mark Dayton’s official proclamation celebrates Prince as the creator of “the Minneapolis Sound,” adding that the artist’s music helped the state in more ways than one by highlighting his”contribution… to Minnesota’s worldwide prominence and its economic growth.”
Citizens of the state are encouraged to wear purple tomorrow, in honour of Prince’s famous song “Purple Rain” and to celebrate his “enduring legacy.”
The iconic performer was tragically found dead in his home on April 21, 2016. Tomorrow would have marked his 58th birthday.
