A private gala took place on Sunday, marking 50 years since songwriters Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson met for the first time. They were also joined by group members Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.
The four members discussed their careers, before breaking into a performance of their 1980 hit “Me and I”, much to the disbelief of the Swedish crowd. The impromptu sing-along started with Lyngstad and Fältskog reciting the track, before the other half of the group jumped in to complete the quartet.
Lyngstad spoke with Expressen about the reunion, describing it as a deeply meaningful encounter: “It was absolutely amazing. A lot of emotions” she says, before adding: “We’ve made this journey throughout our history. Benny and Björn in particular. It’s been very nostalgic.”

Getting together has been tricky for ABBA in the past, and the members did not reunite in 2010 for their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, with only two of the four making it to the ceremony.
