With Daniel Craig backing out of Bond, the hunt is on for the next 007.
Social media is aflutter with speculation on which star will be the next to fill the super spy’s shoes – Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Damian Lewis, Michael Fassbender and even some female contenders like Gillian Anderson – have landed on lists of potential frontrunners for the role. The odds on favourite seems to be none other than Tom Hiddleston, though don’t bet on that announcement coming any time soon, at least according to the man himself.
“I’m sorry to disappoint you everybody,”; Hiddleston reveals while addressing the casting rumours during a panel at Wizard World Philadelphia. “I don’t think that announcement is coming. But I’m very gratified to hear the enthusiasm.”;
“There’s not much that I can say that I haven’t already said, but I know… your guess is as good as mine to be honest,”; he tells the crowd.
The odds seemed to be in Hiddleston’s favour after the actor was spotted meeting with “Skyfall”; and “Spectre”; director Sam Mendes last week. However, Mendes says he won’t return to direct another Bond film – with or without Daniel Craig.
The director reportedly says the next film in the Bond franchise will head in an “unexpected direction.”;
