The fourth and final season of “Mr. Robot” is coming soon, and a new promo promises the most explosive season yet.
The new teaser is set during the holiday season in New York City, with a sinister-sounding piano rendition of “Silent Night” playing as Elliot (Rami Malek) intones, “We need to get back to work.”
This is followed by quick cuts of Darlene (Carly Chaikin) looking pensive, Angela (Portia Doubleday) sobbing and a dead body being loaded into a coroner’s van as Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) issues a dire warning.
“What you’re about to do is crossing a line,” he tells Elliot, who responds, “It’s a little late for that, don’t you think?”
According to the official synopsis, the fourth season “will pick up where the third season finale left off, delving into the pros and cons of Elliot hitting ‘send’ on the email that could reverse 5/9.”
Earlier this month, the show’s official Twitter account shared a brief teaser of Malek staring down the camera, with the caption “Are you seeing this, too?”
The vid comes after showrunner Sam Esmail confirmed the show’s end in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
He explained: “When I first created the world of ‘Mr. Robot’, I thought it would be a niche television series with a small, cult following.”
“Over the past three years, it has become so much more, and I am continually humbled by the show’s recognition and by the amazing cast and crew that work tirelessly to help bring my vision to life.
“Since Day 1, I’ve been building toward one conclusion — and in breaking the next season of ‘Mr. Robot’, I have decided that conclusion is finally here.”
