Conrad Murray, the doctor who was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson, exclusively spoke to Anderson Cooper, maintaining his innocence in Jackson’s passing.

“I did everything to try to help him,”; Murray told Cooper from behind bars. “I did the best I can.”;

The coroner ruled that Jackson died from a lethal combination of sedatives and the surgical anesthetic propofol. Murray faced scrutiny for ordering propofol to Jackson’s home, as the drug is traditionally administered in a hospital setting.

Murray, who is currently serving four years in jail, went to claim that he “never knew [Jackson] was an addict.”;

“My approach may not have been an orthodox approach, but my intentions were good,”; said Murray.

“I am extremely sorry that Michael has passed,”; lamented Murray, who considers himself to have been close friends with Jackson. “It’s a tremendous loss for me. It’s a burden I will carry for an indefinite period of time.”;

According to CNN, Murray is expected to be released in late October.
