As Taylor Swift took the stage for the Teen Choice awards in a stylish Versace ensemble the crowd went wild.
“Screaming, it’s good,” she teased at one point.
Swift was presented with the Icon Award in the traditional surfboard shape synonymous with the award show. Yet this one was special as it featured Swift’s cats.
“Aesthetically speaking this may be my favourite award,” she told the crowd.
The “Archer” singer then turned her attention to her fans. “You make me laugh every day online, I love meeting you.”
Swift then shared advice for the young crowd as they grow up and reach adulthood. “One thing is mistakes are enviable. Sometimes you think if you try hard to make every decision perfectly you can ace life and never make any mistakes but it is normal to make mistakes,” she said.
She added, “I just want you to know if you are out there and being hard on yourself right now for something that has happened, or messing up or feeling embarrassed it is normal. No one gets through unscathed.”
“Please be kind to yourself and stand up for yourself.”
Then came the big announcement. While fans already knew that Swift’s next album Lover will be released on Aug. 23, it was news title single is coming this Friday, Aug. 16.
Swifties turned to social media to express their excitement.
