Carly Pearce and Michael Ray are spilling all the details on their upcoming nuptials.
At the 2019 Boots and Hearts Music Festival this past weekend, ET Canada digital reporter Graeme O’Neil found himself right in the middle of the hectic wedding planning as he caught up with the country stars separately.
It sounds like the guest list is tight because when we asked Ray to give us one question to ask Carly, he replied: “Ask her if I can get three more people to the wedding.”
“That is not nice to do this to me on camera. I hate you,” Carly jokingly answers when we catch up with her the next day.
“It’s been difficult with sweet Michael having a huge family and as we go along I gave him a cutoff and as we’ve gotten closer there’s little special people that all of a sudden keep showing up that I have no idea who they are but they’re so important to him.”
The “Closer to You” singer also admits she granted him three extra people last week so “there better not be three more.”
When it comes down to who’s taking charge in the planning, Ray says he’s leaving most of it up to Pearce and her mom, telling us they’ve done “everything.”
But he admits there are just a few minor details on which he had to have the final say: “I just said we have to have an open bar, and we have to make sure my groomsmen’s attire is simple.”
“If I start asking my buddies to get three-piece suits they’re gonna be like, ‘You’re outta your damn mind,’ adds the 31-year-old singer.
Ray and his bride may not be singing at the wedding but Jake Owen is slotted in to perform his ballad “Made For You” as the couple’s first dance.
When asked if he would do them the honours, Owen was up for it: “He was like, ‘Totally’ and it worked out awesome,” explains Ray.
