Counting Crows’ Adam Duritz has bid farewell to his famous hairdo.
Duritz has had dreadlocks since the band began in the early ’90s, but he took to Instagram during the summer to confirm the ‘do was no more.
The band’s profile shared an array of snaps of the group getting their drink on at Napa Valley’s Elyse winery.
The lengthy caption included, “We drank every bottle of wine we could get our hands on, and… oh yeah, I flew to London and shaved my head! Anarchy In The UK indeed motherf***ers!!!”

What a great week to present the 3rd podcast in our Woodstock series, Ep 73 An Aquarian Exposition, Pt. 3 countingcrows.com/Podcast (link also in bio). We visited our winery @elysewinery and tasted barrel samples of next year’s vintages w/my pops & @mariataylor1111 , I cooked onstage AND played at @outsidelands, we checked out some of the vineyards we harvested (including @morisolivineyard w/ @cmorisoli himself), we drank every bottle of wine we could get our hands on, our winemaker @russell_bevan talked some science, and…oh yeah, I flew to London and shaved my head! Anarchy In The UK indeed motherfuckers!!!
On Nov. 18. stopped by SiriusXM’s studios to chat about his bold new look, adding, “I’m getting used to it.”
“It’s weird because I have accomplished a lot in my life, and every single bit of it was done with those on my head. Previous to that I was a kid or a bum — those are the two choices from my childhood and my 20s,” he continued, revealing he saved his old dreads and keeps them in a bag.
“It’s entirely possible they’re the only reason I can sing well…” he joked of his hair. “We don’t know. Maybe I can no longer make records. But we’re going to find out. It’s entirely possible it has nothing to do with the hair, but Samson probably thought the same thing and look how screwed he ended up.”
