Disney star Dove Cameron has taken to Instagram to defend herself after she was criticized for not wearing a bra in her recent selfies.
The 23-year-old posted two pics of herself wearing a white crop top, before she faced an online backlash for showing the world that she has nipples.
Cameron wrote in one caption, “Women HAVE a history that has been systematically suppressed. Our collective spirituality has largely been tainted to fit the needs of men and those in power. This has a profound effect on the self-esteem of girls and the women they become.
“This influence can be seen in their life choices, partners and financial security for the rest of their lives. It also has an effect on the way their future partners will view them – and ultimately treat them. Our girls deserve better.
“The time to introduce feminism and woman-centered spirituality to ALL children is now.”
Cameron, who stars in the Disney show “Liv and Maddie”, continued: “This is the age of the ascendant Feminine Principle. In such times as these, women are able to look at themselves with new concepts of value and brilliance. However you inhabit and express being Woman, embrace yourself in that way today!”
After comments about how “sexual” the pic was did the rounds online, the actress shared an array of positive messages from fans on her Instagram Story.
One comment read, “Imagine being triggered over someone not wearing a BRA. I’m sorry if our titties should be restrained then so should your guns.”
Another stated, “Why on God’s green earth are people offended over NIPPLES??”
