Ashton Kutcher is finally seeing justice done for his murdered friend.
According to TMZ, a jury on Thursday returned a verdict of guilty against Michael Gargiulo, convicted of killing two women with a a knife in California, including Ashley Ellerin, a friend of Kutcher’s.
Following the verdict, the trial will move onto the sanity phase on Tuesday, in which it will be determined whether Gargiulo was sane during the murders.
Kutcher stood as a witness in the trial back in May, providing crucial testimony for the prosecution, offering his recollection of the evening Ellerin was murdered.
The actor recalled that on the night of the Grammys in 2001, Ellerin was supposed to be his date to an after-party. He stopped by her home at around 10:45 p.m. and knocked on her door, but there was no answer.
He then looked through a window and saw what he thought at the time was spilled wine on the floor, but which was later identified as blood.
Ellerin was found dead the next morning. She had more than 47 stab wounds.
Gargiulo is also facing murder charges in Illinois.
