The action in DC Comics’ “Birds Of Prey” movie is getting kicked up a notch as “John Wick” director Chad Stahelski signs on to direct additional scenes of the film.
A former stuntman, Stahelski is taking an uncredited role to design and film action scenes for the Margot Robbie movie as the project heads into additional photography and post-production. A common occurrence in action flicks, this type of work is traditionally the responsibility of what’s known as a second unit.
The move isn’t surprising since Stahelski’s stunt firm 87 Eleven has been working on the film since production began, working closely with the movie’s director, Cathy Yan.
The movie sees Robbie reprise her “Suicide Squad” character Harley Quinn as she joins other female comic book heroes Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) in a battle against crime lord Black Mask (Ewan McGregor).
“Birds Of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn)” is slated to open in theatres on Feb. 7, 2020.
