Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s families are still holding out hope that the two will once again reconcile.
Over the past 10 years, the two have been on and off and according to E! News, the family is hoping this is just a bump in the road.
“Their families have urged them to take some time to breathe before they make any final decisions,” the insider told the publication “They are both upset about how this has blown up and are both hurting right now.”
The source adds that “they were in a great place” before the wedding, but afterwards “their relationship completely changed”.
Cyrus outgrew her partying phase and “was focused and serious about her new music” while Hemsworth continued “to party with his friends” as detailed in Cyrus’ new song “Slide Away” which was released only days after they announced their split.
While the two are “hurting right now”, the insider said “there’s definitely a chance that they will get back together” considering their history. But at the moment they are “trying not to communicate and really give each other space” while Hemsworth is in Australia and Cyrus is in L.A.
Yet the way things have “blown up”, reconciling could be off the table.
“Neither Miley or Liam have decided when they are going to take the next step of filing for divorce, because there is a chance of reconciliation,” the source added.
