Claire Cottrill, who goes by the stage name of Clairo, has been touring with Khalid as his opening act, and she received a strange surprise from the “Eastside” rapper.
Not only did Saturday’s show in Miami mark the final date on the tour’s first leg before heading to Europe in September, it was also the day before Cottrill’s 21st birthday.
This did not go unrecognized by Khalid, who assembled some friends to join him by dressing up as furry “Sesame Street” Muppets and lying in wait.

When she walked into a backstage room, Cotrill found herself encountering Khalid costumed as Elmo, while others were dressed as other characters from the beloved children’s TV show.
Was she surprised? Indeed she was, doubling over and eventually collapsing onto the floor as she convulsed in laughter upon seeing a roomful of giant Muppets, who eventually envelop her in a group hug.
