It’s been awhile since “The Simpsons” has delivered one of the show’s hilarious presidential spoof videos, and a new one features the quartet of U.S. Congresswomen known as “the Squad” and music from classic Broadway musical “West Side Story”.
In the opening, President Donald Trump is sitting forlornly at his Oval Office desk. “So many problems, tariffs — I need a distraction,” he tells himself before his eye catche a photo on his desk of the four: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.
He then launches into the classic show tune, albeit with parodic new lyrics.
“They shouldn’t be in America / No one but me in America / No taxes for me in America / This is my natural hair-ica,” he sings as his coiffure morphs into a small dog before readjusting on his head.
This is followed by the women in the photo magically appearing in his office, with the four Congresswomen giving as good as they get.
“You’re Boris Johnson without the class / Can’t wait to see you behind prison glass / Your nose is right up Putin’s a** / We say it’s time to impeach you fast,” they sing as they chase Trump out of the White House, where he’s met by a gaggle of Democratic presidential candidates who’ve formed a chorus line.
Meanwhile, the 31st season of “The Simpsons” premieres Sunday, Sept. 29, with the new season featuring such guest voices as Olivia Colman, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Bob Odenkirk, John Mulaney, Jim Parsons, Jane Goodall, Asia Kate Dillon and Jason Momoa.
