Disney+ is bringing another superheroine to the screen, this time with Ms. Marvel.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that the upcoming streaming service is developing the show around the first Muslim superhero by bringing British writer Bisha K. Ali to write and act as showrunner. Ali also worked on Hulu’s remake of “Four Weddings And A Funeral”.

The comic book Ms. Marvel has been around since 1976 with Carol Danvers using the name before becoming Captain Marvel in 2012. Other characters have also used the name briefly.
The latest character to take up the mantle is that of the teenage Kamela Khan, Marvel’s first Muslim character to have her own comic title. She is a Pakistani-American from a religious family in New Jersey with the powers to stretch and change shape, or in more technical terms, she is polymorphous.

There is no set schedule for the show as of this point but Marvel confirmed during D23 on Friday that they are producing “Ms. Marvel”, “She-Hulk” and “Moon Knight”.
Mindy Kaling has previously said that she has spoken to Marvel about bringing Ms. Marvel to life and that they were “so excited” but there is no word if Kaling’s project is the same one.
Other Marvel shows to appear on the streaming service include “The Falcon And The Winter Soldier”, “Loki”, “Hawkeye” and “WandaVision”.
