Bill Skarsgård and Maika Monroe play home invaders who break into the wrong home in the genre-bending horror flick “Villains”, for which the official trailer is out now.
The film, written and directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, debuted at 2019’s SXSW film festival and now audiences are getting a look at this chilling dark comedy that follows the “Castle Rock” star Skarsgård, 29, and “Hot Summer Nights” actress Monroe, 26, as they suffer a reversal of fortune after a successful robbery.
The film’s synopsis provides some clues about what viewers can expect to see: “Mickey and Jules are lovers on the run, headed southbound for a fresh start in the Sunshine State. When their car dies after a gas station robbery, they break into a nearby house looking for a new set of wheels. What they find instead is a dark secret and a sweet-as-pie pair of homeowners who will do anything to keep it from getting out.”
The film, in theatres Sept. 20, also stars Jeffrey Donovan and Kyra Sedgwick.
