Lucy Boynton discusses her relationship with Rami Malek and her need for privacy in an interview with The Cut.
Boynton also speaks about her fashion sense and Malek’s view of it, referring to a recent vintage-store visit: “I held up a dress and he said, ‘Why are you always trying to dress like a 12-year-old ghost?’ I was one of those kids who never wanted to grow up.”
While she’s willing to talk about the communal approach to fashion, Boynton prefers to keep her love life private: “I have a lot of respect, and a lot of questions, for those people who don’t seem to have any protective layer and who are absolutely themselves in every scenario. When you are so exposed, the way that you are in the publicity side of our work, I don’t know how you protect yourself if you don’t keep something for yourself.
“I had an interview recently where I was asked such crude and candid questions about my relationship. It kind of forced me to pull way back.”
Boynton also speaks about attending a London private school in another interview with the Sunday Times’s Style magazine.
She says, according to the Daily Mail: “That kind of school is a prime opportunity to encourage girls to feel bold in their presence and place in the world.
“But we weren’t taught that. Everything we learned was in terms of men, with the assumption that we would have male bosses.
“And you realize later how awful that is, and how detrimental that is to a girl’s self-worth.”
