Missy Elliott was at the MTV VMAs to accept the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award but brought so much more.

The national treasure hit the stage in a performance that will be hard to beat.

While performing a melody of her songs including “Throw It Back” and “Get Ur Freak On” there wasn’t a single audience member that wasn’t dancing away.

Missy Elliott even brought out Alyson Stoner on stage. For those not familiar with Elliott’s early 2000s videos, a young Stoner was a featured dancer in many of her videos.

Musicians came together to pay tribute to Missy Elliott including Justin Timberlake who noted, “There is hip hop, there is R&B and then there is Missy.”
