A New York City commuter is lucky to be alive — and he has “Billions” actress Melissa Errico to thank.
As People reports, the 49-year-old actress was on a subway platform when a man slipped and fell onto the tracks as a train approached.
“I saw two men holding on to another man on the tracks who was reaching up to them. He was a sweet man. He was really desperate and scared,” says Errico, who plays June Raichlein on the Showtime drama.
However, she explains that the man was too heavy for the men to lift.
“I could see the two men giving up. They were letting him go,” adds Raichlen, a Tony nominee whose TV credits include “Law & Order”, “The Good Wife” and “Blue Bloods”.
Thinking quickly, the mother of three says she “literally hopped into action. I came running over. I was like, ‘You can’t lift him? We got this.’”
She then dropped her bag, ran over and grabbed the man under his arms and instructed the two men to help her lift him from the tracks.
“I said, ‘One, two, three,’ really loud,” she says, noting that they managed to pull the man onto the platform right before the train arrived.
According to Errico, the man “had broken his foot and cut his arms. I had blood all over me.”
Police tell People the man was taken to a nearby hospital, and is expected to make a full recovery.
The man was taken to a local hospital, say police. He is expected to recover fully.
“I’m a mom. Who better to save a life than a mom?” she adds. “I had the energy and jumped in to help this guy. I completed the chain. People do bigger things than that every day.”
