Meghan Trainor, Meek Mill and Rapsody are teaming up with some big players.
The three artists will headline a concert called “Inspire Change”. The event is a collaboration between the National Football League (NFL) and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation music label.
The event will also feature the release of the two companies’ “Inspire Change” apparel line. Trainor, Mill and Rapsody will perform what is billed as the first of “Songs of the Season” concert series. The event takes place on Sept. 5 at Grant Park in Chicago. Local DJ Pharris will also perform.
“Songs of the Season” is a season-long initiative highlighting superstars and emerging artists. The selected musicians will create original songs that will be featured in all NFL promotions each month during the season.
The controversial “Inspire Change” initiative was announced at a joint press conference on August 14. There was confusion and contention about the partnership, considering Jay-Z’s vocal support for Colin Kaepernick and the athlete’s supposed blackball from the league.
“I think that we forget that Colin’s whole thing was to bring attention to social injustice so in that case, this is a success — this is the next thing,” Jay-Z argued, noting he spoke to Kapernick prior to the August 14 press conference.
