Nicki Minaj might have found love with Kenneth “Zoo” Petty, but the rapper is opening up about her journey to finding the right one.
The “Super Bass” rapper expressed her experiences with love in a series of tweets on Sunday.
“When u see a woman in a toxic relationship, rather than laugh & say mean things, try to offer sound advice from your heart & root for her to learn her worth. We’ve all been there. I saw my parents fight & argue non stop & never divorce, so I thought this was normal [behaviour],” the first tweet read.
She then continued with a list of things that a man could do that means he does not love you.
Things got more personal when Minaj revealed that she used to “think love had to hurt” and how she was “so afraid to speak [because she] never knew when that person would be in a particular mood” and how saying the wrong thing would result in her getting hit.
After Minaj learned to love herself, things started to change. “If you wouldn’t let a man treat your mother, your sister or best friend like that b/c you LOVE them, then you wouldn’t let a man treat YOU like that b/c you love YOU,” she added.

Minaj and Petty have been publically linked since Dec. 2018. The musician recently revealed that they picked up their second marriage licence (the first expired), she then changed her name to “Mrs. Petty” on Instagram but no formal exchanging of vows has been announced.
