Cardi B is pulling inspiration from her past experiences stripping in the new look at the highly anticipated film “Hustlers”.
In the brand new teaser, the “Money” rapper, 26, teaches “Crazy Rich Asians” actress Constance Wu how to give a proper lap dance.
After the tutorial, Wu’s character Destiny explains, “I don’t want to be dependant on anyone. I just want to be able to take care of my Grandma and maybe go shopping once and awhile.”
The upcoming dramedy, from director Lorene Scafaria, is based on the real-life women of Jessica Pressler’s 2015 New York Magazine article The Hustlers At Scores, that follows desperate mom Destiny who turns to stripping in hopes of earning a little extra cash. Destiny soon gets involved with Jennifer Lopez’s Romona and her scheme to drug prospective “customers” while maxing out their credit cards.
Wu has previously chatted about her scene with Cardi in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, “[We filmed] a scene where she’s teaching me how to give a lap dance.”
“She’s like, ‘Show me what you’ve got!’ So, I try. She’s like, ‘Honey, no! This is terrible!’” Wu continued. “I didn’t have to try that hard to be terrible. t’s not my intuition, so, she was like, ‘No, no, no, you can’t do this! This is what you’ve got to do,’ and she explained what you’ve gotta do and why you do it. You could tell she knew the job and how to do it well, and she definitely taught me!”
Lizzo, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, Julia Stiles, Madeline Brewer and Trace Lysette also star.
“Hustlers” hits big screens on Sept. 13 after premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7.
