Brett Kissel has just dropped his latest single and a hot tropical music video to complement it.
During an exclusive interview with ET Canada, the 29-year-old singer explains “Drink About Me”, his first release in nearly two years, is a unique twist on a classic tale.
“A lot of people think back to some of the greatest memories they’ve ever had and they do it while having a cocktail, and we wanted to take that story and make it bigger and better.”
The music video was filmed on the beaches in the Bahamas and stars “Bachelor” franchise power-couple — and Kissel’s good friends — Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick.
“We wanted to cast a real-life couple so that legitimate sparks can fly,” says Kissel on casting the pair. “With a video like this and a song like this you need a great video to take the song to the next level and truly bring these lyrics to life.”
Kissel sings, “I hope a margarita puts you on the coast with me / A cold Corona takes you down to Mexico,” while we see Bristowe and Tartick adding to the romantic visual.
“When you hear this song, I hope you’ll reminisce about your best days,” says Kissel in a press release.
“Happiest times. First kiss. Longest kiss. Warmest embrace. Let this song surround you. And let these memories come flooding back.”
“Drink About Me” is the first single off Kissel’s fourth studio album Now Or Never, which is set for release January 1, 2020.
Along with the upcoming release of his new record, the country star will head to Calgary for the 2019 CCMAs, where he’s nominated for five awards, including Entertainer of the Year.
“It’s so special to me because I truly fancy myself as an entertainer,” says the “We Were That Song” singer on his nomination.
