Rumour Has It ‘Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker’ Will Mark The Return Of Anakin Skywalker

“Star Wars” fans think Anakin Skywalker is set for a big return.

Rumours are swirling that Anakin will return as a Force Ghost in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”. This would mark Hayden Christensen’s return to the “Star Wars” galaxy for the first time since 2005’s “Episode III – Revenge Of The Sith”.

Christensen and Ian McDiarmid, the latter of whom played Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious in the prequel films, were scheduled to attend the FanX convention in Salt Lake City, Utah. Disney reportedly pulled the panel out of concern for “The Rise Of Skywalker” spoiler leaks.

McDiarmid has already been confirmed for J.J. Abrams’ upcoming “Star Wars” movie. Christensen has not been confirmed. One of the bigger theories circulating is that “The Rise Of Skywalker” refers to Anakin and not Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).

Anakin appearing as a Force Ghost is something that has been depicted in other “Star Wars” works. A new book titled The Secrets of the Jedi features the returns of Anakin, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda, per NME.

“Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker” premieres Dec. 20 in North America.
