Meryl Streep Dedicates Her Performance In ‘The Laundromat’ To A Journalist Killed While Collecting Panama Papers Information

It was a busy night for Meryl Streep who was at the Toronto International Film Festival promoting her new film “The Laundromat”.

“I learned that we are all sort of complacent in a system if we don’t change it with our votes that there is a floating sector of the one-percenters around the globe that are robbing from our schools, our infrastructure, from our care of the environment by evading their tax liabilities and responsibilities,” Streep said when asked what she learned about the film.

The Hollywood icon then notes that she is dedicating her performance in the film to Daphne Caruana Galizia, a journalist who was killed while collecting information about the Panama Papers.

Not only was Streep there for her film, but she was also being awarded at the inaugural TIFF Tribute Gala. The new ceremony supports standout artists in the film industry.
