‘Joker’ Director Todd Phillips Says ‘Definitely Not’ To A Crossover With Robert Pattinson’s ‘The Batman’

Do not expect to see Joaquin Phoenix and Robert Pattinson in a crossover movie.

Pattinson sent Bat-maniacs and Joker-junkies into a frenzy over the idea of a crossover film. In an interview with Variety, Pattinson said something spoiler-ish before retracting his statement.

A passage from the Variety piece reads: “At one point in our conversation, he offers a mundane comment about Joaquin Phoenix, who stars in ‘Joker’ (a movie he hasn’t seen yet), before asking to retract it.”

“‘Oh s–t,’ he says, adding that he’s not accustomed to thinking about spoilers. ‘I definitely should not say that. I’m so used to pretty art-house movies, where you can watch the movie three times and still not know what it’s about.'”

“Joker” director Todd Phillips assures no such crossover will happen.

“No, definitely not,” the filmmaker told Variety at TIFF. “There will be many more Jokers, I’m sure, in the future.”

The new “Joker” origins movie starring Phoenix is earning rave reviews. Phoenix is already expected to get an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.
