Steve Carell Reacts To ‘The Morning Show’ Trailer Using Song With ‘The Office’ Ties

Steve Carell would have flagged “The Morning Show” trailer if someone sent him an early copy.

A few weeks ago, Apple released the official trailer for its highly anticipated Apple TV+ series. “The Morning Show” boasts an all-star cast of Carell, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

What caught many a viewer’s attention, however, was the song used for “The Morning Show” trailer. Supertramp’s “Goodbye Stranger” played underneath the video. Fans of “The Office” will affectionately remember Carell’s character Michael Scott parodied Supertramp’s song when he sang “Goodbye, Toby” in the season 4 finale.

“Oh, my gosh, when I saw that trailer I was like, somebody should have called me and said, ‘Do you want to flag anything about this?’” Carell laughed when talking to Entertainment Weekly. “I was like, ‘Guys, you can’t put that in the trailer and not have people raise one or two eyebrows.’”

“It would have been an easy thing to red-flag,” Carell continued. “Oh well. I don’t believe that they did that on purpose.”

“The Morning Show” premieres at launch when Apple TV+ hits homes on November 1.
