A number of celebs stepped out at the 5th Annual Diamond Ball which supports Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation on Thursday night.
“At 18 I started working with other foundations and now this has become more personal because it is named after my grandparents. One of which I have lost to cancer so these things get really emotional and personal,” the “Take A Bow” singer said on the red carpet.
“It’s always been important to me before any success,” she told The Associated Press. “As a kid, just seeing those commercials on television with the kids in Africa where it’s like, ‘it just takes 10 cent or 25 cents to help somebody,’. I used to think, ‘When I grow up, I’m a gonna be rich and I’m going to make a lot of money and I could make a lot of 10 cents and a lot of 25 cents.’”
Just some of the famous faces there included Cardi B (who struggled with her massive pink ballgown), Normani and Karlie Kloss.
Dj Khaled was also on hand after announcing he is expecting “another one” with Nicole Tuck said, “I’m a fan of her energy, she has a beautiful soul. In my books, she keeps it mad real.”
In the event hosted by Seth Meyers, the celebs bid on high-value items, including Cardi B’s $109,000 bid on a rare copy of a book on Rihanna, along with a two-thousand-pound marble stand designed to hold it.
The exact amount of money raised for the Clara Lionel Foundation is unknown but Rihanna told the crowd she was “humbled”.
