By now the word is out and everyone is getting excited for the “Gossip Girl” reboot.
The show will take place in the present time focusing on new students in the Upper East Side so the characters you knew and loved won’t play a significant part. Although that doesn’t mean we won’t see them at all.
It was revealed on Thursday that Kristen Bell has signed on to narrate the “Gossip Girl” update, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Kristen Bell has always been and will always be the voice of ‘Gossip Girl’,” the producers said in a statement.
Chace Crawford, who played Nate Archibald, touched on the reboot in the new issue of August Man.
“It just makes me feel old. I got an email about it right before my birthday,” Crawford told the publication. “It’s funny they’re already rebooting it. There are so many different streaming services nowadays. Our show was on a network, so you do 24 to 26 episodes per season and each episode had its own conflict and resolution. If you’re doing eight to 10 episodes, as I heard they would be doing on HBO Max, you can write with a different narrative style and have an ending in mind, like they do on Netflix and Amazon shows. It’s interesting, and I’m sure they can get away with edgier stuff these days.”
Despite the reboot making him “feel old” he wouldn’t say no to a cameo even though he is very busy working on Amazon’s “The Boys” right now.
“If there’s an opening in the future for doing a cameo, I would definitely be open to it. The show was a big part of my life and was really special. I loved everyone on it, from the cast to the crew. We were a real family. And I was in my early 20s, so it was like an elongated, pumped-up ‘college’ experience with New York City as our oyster. It was a really fun time. But ‘The Boys’ is my priority now.”
