On Sunday, ABC announced a surprise television special featuring an intimate look at one of the world’s most popular entertainers, sharing a sneak-peek trailer of “Beyonce Presents: Making The Gift”.
The one-hour special will take a behind-the-scenes look at Queen Bey during the process of creating “The Lion King: The Gift”, the album of original music she released in July in conjunction with Disney’s live-action remake of “The Lion King”, in which she provides the voice of Nala.
According to ABC’s announcement, the special “features candid footage and interviews detailing the hard work and passion that went into her love letter to Africa,” giving fans an inside look at Beyonce’s creative process throughout the making of the album.
“Now, viewers will be taken through the creative process as Beyonce carefully curates the album, creating new music and collaborating with exceptionally talented artists and producers, while seeking inspiration from deeply rooted African influences,” states the announcement.
“This creativity is informed by her travels throughout the continent, from the tranquility of the pyramids of Egypt to the bustling and joyous atmospheres of Nigeria and South Africa,” the announcement adds. “The narrative, steeped in love and appreciation, highlights the beauty of the people and the vibrant sounds of a pulsating continent.”
The special was written, produced and directed by Beyonce herself, with her longtime collaborator Ed Burke serving as co-director.
“Beyonce Presents: Making The Gift” airs Monday, Sept. 15 at 10 p.m., following the season premiere of “Dancing With the Stars”.
