Cristiano Ronaldo opens up how the rape allegations against him are impacting his family life.
Ronaldo engaged in an emotional interview with Piers Morgan for ITV’s “Good Morning Britain”. In the interview, the soccer star touched on the rape allegations levied against him by Kathryn Mayorga.
“I listened to my kids coming down the stairs and I changed the channel because I was embarrassed,” he said of the news reports. “I just changed the channel for Cristiano Jr. not to see that they speak bad about his father about a very bad case… It makes me feel so bad, to be honest.”
Ronaldo also got emotional when discussing his late father. He said his sadness was over how “the number one” soccer play in the world and his dad “doesn’t see anything.”
Ronaldo was accused of raping Mayorga in Las Vegas back in 2009. Mayorga signed a confidentiality agreement in exchange for $375,000, but broke the terms of that agreement when filing a civil lawsuit against Ronaldo in 2018. Police did not pursue criminal charges citing a lack of evidence.
