CMT will honour five country superstars during their 10th annual “Artists of the Year” ceremony next month.
It was revealed Tuesday, Carrie Underwood, Dan + Shay, Kane Brown, Luke Combs and Thomas Rhett will all be recognized for their extreme success over the last 12 months.
This will be Underwood’s fifth time earning the recognition and Rhett’s second, while Brown, Combs, and Dan + Shay will receive the honour for the first time.
“These five, standout honourees have dominated country music this year and we look forward to paying tribute to each of them at the 10th year anniversary CMT Artists of the Year event,” says CMT senior VP Leslie Fram in a statement.
The special will feature tribute performances to each of the honourees, as well as surprise collaborations and guest appearances.
Held at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Centre, the ceremony celebrates those “who have collectively ruled the last 12 months in country music” according to CMT.
Last year, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town and Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum, were all recognized during CMT’s first-ever all-female “Artists of the Year” ceremony.
Additional performers and presenters will be announced at a later date for the 90-minute special, taking place on Oct. 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
