A singer on the German edition of “The Voice” offered a vocal performance that shocked and surprised the coaches of the vocal competition when she launched into a ferocious cover of a heavy metal track, complete with guttural, growling vocals that viewers couldn’t believe were coming out of her.
On a recent episode of the reality show, contestant Stefanie Stuber displayed some head-banging vocal prowess when tackling “Ghost Walking” by U.S. heavy metal band Lamb of God.
Her transition from demonic-sounding growls to a more melodic tone came as a shock to the studio audience and the coaches, who were downright stunned when they turned their chairs and realized it was a woman responsible for the vocals.
According to Revolver, Stuber is no novice when it comes to heavy metal, having fronted such bands as Mission in Black and Enslave the Chain.
You can watch her amazing performance — and, for those who speak German, hear the judges’ responses — in the video above.
