“The Devil Wears Prada” is getting a musical makeover thanks to Elton John – that’s all!
The upcoming stage production is set to debut next summer with an all-new original score from the legendary musician.
The new adaptation will be based on the beloved 2006 movie starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, which was based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger.
John will team up with Shaina Taub on the original tunes, with John providing the music and Taub writing the lyrics. Anna D. Shapiro has signed on to direct the production.
Producer Kevin McCollum confirmed the news to the Chicago Tribune, revealing they will premiere in Chicago before hopefully heading to Broadway in New York City.
The play will premiere at the James M. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago on July 14, 2020 and run until August 17. Tickets go on sale on Oct. 6.
